Landslip or Landslide and/or Soil Creep, is a geological phenomenon that includes a wide range of ground movements. Shallow or deep seated slide, joint controlled rock fall, or block sliding rockfalls along a steep slope can create slope failure. If the failure is created relatively fast then landslide or landslip occurs. While if such failure takes time and slippage occurs over a years or relatively within a long period of time, soil creep develops.
In both cases land movement can create human loss or enormous financial damage on public or private property. Landslides can occur in offshore, coastal and onshore environments. Although the action of gravity in presence of water or vertical joints are the primary driving force for a landslide to occur, there are other contributing factors affecting the original slope stability
